Director Of Treaty Reinsurance Claims

We are searching for an experienced insurance and reinsurance claims professional with 10 years minimum of combined experience adjusting claims with focus on Specialty Lines including, but not limited to Professional Liability, Medical Malpractice, Errors & Omissions, Directors & Officers and other casualty lines including CLASH. Experience adjusting or overseeing claims in multiple jurisdictions is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Handling of Treaty Reinsurance Specialty Casualty XOL and quota share claims including but not limited to Professional Liability, Medical Malpractice, Errors & Omissions, Directors & Officers and other casualty lines including CLASH.

Complete claim audits to assess claim management capabilities of ceding companies and advise Underwriting Department of results whether selected by the Director or requested by Underwriting and completion of a report per department procedures.

Report directly to the Vice President Treaty Reinsurance Claims in matters outside authority level.

Serve as back up for the Vice President Treaty Reinsurance Claims

Manage Treaty Reinsurance claims to include determining coverage, exposure evaluation, setting timely and accurate case reserves and making claim payments within established authority limits.

Documentation of claim files as required by department procedures.

Establishment and updating of reserves based on department procedures.

Liaison with Treaty Reinsurance Underwriting Department regarding statutory and legal jurisdictions for assigned accounts.

Advising Brokers and Reinsureds as to desired claim handling. Communicate with Brokers and Reinsureds to obtain necessary claim details.

Processing of cash calls, and vendor check requests in accordance with department procedures and authority level.

Communication with Underwriters regarding problem accounts, large losses and specific Reinsured problems.
