We are seeking a Statutory Senior Accountant to play a pivotal role in our financial operations. This individual will be responsible for crafting journal entries, ensuring the prompt closure of financial statements, and maintaining compliance with Statutory Accounting principles (SAP). In addition to this, the role is instrumental in our quarterly and annual statutory filings, encompassing core financial statements, supporting schedules, and footnotes. The Statutory Senior Accountant also actively supports our monthly general ledger closure process and collaborates with the Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate journal entries to facilitate the timely closure of financial statements while adhering to Statutory Accounting principles (SAP).
  • Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to guarantee precise reporting.
  • Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by junior accounting staff.
  • Craft accurate and punctual financial statements in accordance with predetermined schedules and input from the accounting department.
  • Analyze financial statements for anomalies, variances, and issues warranting management's attention.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory filings, including core financial statements, supporting schedules, and footnote disclosures.
  • Prepare all necessary Statutory to GAAP adjustment entries to support financial statements presented on both a statutory and GAAP basis.
  • Assess technical accounting issues associated with Statutory accounting regulations for proper financial treatment.
  • Support both GAAP and SAP financial statement audit activities.
  • Scrutinize all inter-company transactions and generate invoices when required.
  • Engage in special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to subordinates within the team.

The aforementioned duties provide a general overview of the role's scope but do not encompass every responsibility, duty, or skill required. Our personnel may be requested to perform tasks outside their regular responsibilities when necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • At least 2 years of experience as a senior accountant Profound knowledge of SAP and GAAP Experience in the property and casualty Insurance industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification preferred Familiarity with EAS general ledger and EFS Statutory reporting software

Essential Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a high degree of interpersonal proficiency
  • Capacity to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly in Outlook, Teams, and Excel
