Insurance Agency Accountant/Controller
Job Location: Sarasota, FL

Key Qualifications:
- Strong bookkeeping, problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Accounting:
- Perform full charge accounting tasks, including managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Receipt and coding of invoices and processing payments as required.
- Reviewing daily bank activities, updating cash balances, and providing necessary reports.
- Assisting in month-end closing activities.
- Familiarity with agency management financial reporting systems.
- Collaborate with an external CPA to prepare year-end tax returns and review financial statements.
Carrier Payables:
- Handle carrier and broker invoices within specialized software.
- Maintain carrier payables records.
- Collaborate with the team to determine payment schedules based on client and due dates.
- Process payments to carriers and brokers as required.
- Reconcile payable reports with the general ledger.
Operating Payables:
- Process payments for rents, payroll, group insurance premiums, and vendor payables through specialized software.
- Reconcile payable reports with the general ledger.
Accounts Receivable:
- Deposit client payments and transact receipts in the company's financial system.
- Process policy deposits, ACH deposits from premium finance companies, and incoming wire transfers.
- Update and reconcile accounts receivable records and provide data to Account Managers.
- Generate and maintain monthly revenue reports for the leadership team.
Preferred Skills:

- Strong multitasking and task organization capabilities.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry is a plus but not required.

Qualifications and Education:
- 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.
- Prior accounts payable and accounts receivable experience.
- Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
