Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Operating Model Transformation, Internal Consulting, to lead important initiatives for Aon. The first project is the development and implementation of a multi-year strategic redesign of the operating framework. Reporting through the leadership team of Aon Business Solutions (ABS), this role is responsible for crafting, orchestrating, and scaling the transformation of Aon's enterprise operating model to enhance how we deliver value to clients, colleagues and carriers. This role will engage with senior leaders across Solution Lines, Regions and Functions, as well as partner with a cross‑functional team of internal consultants, project managers and subject matter authorities and to deliver measurable performance outcomes.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from one of our US offices.

What the day will look like

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Partner with ABS leadership as well as business leaders, key collaborators, and cross-functional partners to advance the vision, objectives, and scope for operating model transformation
  • Translate strategic priorities into a clear transformation roadmap with defined business outcomes, key performance indicators, and value realization targets
  • Apply structured consulting methodologies (e.g., problem framing, analysis based on informed assumptions, benchmarking, argument development) to inform recommendations
  • Develop and validate arguments for operating model changes, including financial, operational, and qualitative benefits

Operating Model Design & Alignment

  • Support the end‑to‑end design of the target operating model across Aon's Solution Lines, Business Units and Functions
  • Translate enterprise strategy into detailed Operating Model design components, including capabilities, organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, governance models, and cross functional interaction patterns
  • Analyze and synthesize complex inputs (e.g. activity maps, as-Is assessments, interviews, benchmarks, collaborator insights) into clear, decision-ready operating model recommendations
  • Be responsible for phased implementation, including pilots, scaling strategies, and stabilization, ensuring alignment with regional and solution line needs
  • Build and maintain operating model blueprints, ensuring all components (capability models, interaction models, RACIs, team structures, decision rights, critical metrics) integrate across the enterprise

Collaborator Engagement & Program Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, providing insight on opportunities, trade‑offs, and risks related to the operating model; ensure consensus and engagement in strategy and roadmap
  • Shape and deliver a compelling change narrative that articulates the “why,” “what,” and “how” of the transformation for different audiences
  • Work closely with executive sponsors and the PMO to establish and maintain robust governance, decision‑making, and blocking issue mechanisms
  • Partner with Change & Communications teams to define implications of design changes, highlight required behavior shifts, and identify points of resistance or adoption needs
  • Facilitate executive and working‑level forums to align decisions, resolve conflicts, and maintain momentum

People Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build consulting capabilities within the broader organization by sharing methodologies, tools, and guidelines
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Capture and embed lessons learned into subsequent waves of operating model transformation

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 5+ years of proven experience in management consulting, internal strategy/consulting or equivalent internal consulting function
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi‑workstream operating model or large‑scale transformation programs in a global, matrixed organization, including design, process transition and governance framework setup
  • Experience working in or with professional services, insurance, or financial services environments is highly desirable
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Operations, Technology, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) strongly preferred

  • Ability to operate as a generalist across strategy development, operating model design, and execution support
  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking skills; able to connect enterprise strategy to detailed design and implementation
  • Expertise in operating model design, process re‑engineering, and organizational design
  • Excellent collaborator management and influencing skills, including experience engaging C‑suite and senior executives
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, compelling narratives and materials
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities; comfortable with data, financial modeling, and performance metrics
  • Growth mindset toward emerging technologies, with the ability to incorporate AI into daily work and support others in adopting new digital tools with confidence and ease. Proficiency in MS

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $151,000 to $175,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
