SENIOR COMMERCIAL AUTO UNDERWRITER

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Auto Underwriter to join our Underwriting team. This role focuses on evaluating and pricing complex commercial auto risks—including fleets, trucking and private auto while balancing profitability and growth. As a subject matter expert, you will serve as a mentor to junior underwriters, strengthen agency relationships, and contribute to underwriting strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price complex commercial and auto accounts, including large fleets.
  
  
• Analyze underwriting data (loss runs, MVRs, IFTAs, SAFER/CAB reports, etc.) to assess risk.
  
  
• Manage and grow a profitable book of business while maintaining underwriting discipline.
  
  
• Mentor junior underwriters and provide guidance.
  
  
• Collaborate with claims and risk control teams to identify trends and improvements.
  
  
• Ensure compliance with underwriting policies, regulations, and state guidelines.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance or related field (preferred).
  
  
• 5+ years of commercial auto underwriting experience.
  
  
• Professional designations (CPCU, AU, ARM) strongly preferred.
  
  
• Strong knowledge of ISO, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and fleet operations.
  
  
• Proficiency in underwriting systems, rating tools, and Microsoft Office.
  
  
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  
  
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
