Job Description

AXIS is hiring a Senior Claims Specialist – Construction for its North America Claim Team. This role involves managing primary claims involving New York Labor Law for AXIS U.S. Primary Casualty policies.


How does this role contribute to our collective success?
The individual will manage claims by investigating, analyzing, and evaluating
coverage for complex liability third-party primary casualty claims involving New York Labor Law.

What Will You Do In This Role?
· Evaluating complex New York Labor Law claims to determine appropriate settlement strategies and ensure adherence to company policies.
· Ensuring timely evaluation, reserving and disposition of assigned New York Labor Law claims.
· Mentoring junior claims adjusters, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development.
· Utilizing working knowledge of the legal frameworks and claims handling practices relevant to the specific jurisdiction (i.e., NY) in which the claims arise. In particular, utilize a working knowledge of New York Labor Law.
· Documenting coverage, investigation, damages, reserve rationale, negotiations, etc. associated with claim.
· Reviewing contracts for risk transfer evaluations, coverage analysis and tender review
· Investigating potentially fraudulent claims and takes appropriate action.
· Identifying opportunities for contribution, subrogation and contribution to the claim.

What We're Looking For
· Be able to demonstrate expertise in evaluating and resolving complex New York Labor Law claims.
· Have the ability to mentor and develop the professional skills of junior adjusters.
· Have prior experience handling complex, litigated New York Labor Law claims.
· Have experience in drafting coverage correspondence, experience writing coverage letters and responding to/issuing tenders.
· Be skilled in negotiating settlements with various stakeholders to achieve equitable solutions.
· Have the ability to recommend and justify the use of outside counsel in complex New York Labor Law claims.
· Be adept at networking and building relationships within professional and market associations.
· Have a track record of adhering to and enforcing company policies and procedures in claims processing.


Role Factors
This role requires you to be in the office 3 days per week and adhere to AXIS
licensing requirements, including for New York.


What We Offer
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $XX,000 to $XX,000. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
