A specialty P&C carrier is hiring a Senior Claims Examiner to handle complex third-party bodily injury and property damage claims under New York Labor Law, split roughly 60/40 between labor law and commercial general liability.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert claim handling across coverage, investigation, evaluation, and resolution of complex third-party bodily injury and property damage claims
• Investigate and evaluate liability and damages in line with best practices and timelines
• Analyze policies and review relevant contracts to explore risk transfer strategies and priority of coverage
• Draft coverage position letters
• Set timely indemnity reserves following thorough investigation
• Proactively negotiate claims toward resolution
• Manage expense reserves and pursue cost-effective resolution strategies
• Provide strong customer service to insureds and brokers, and keep underwriting advised of losses
• Support other claims department needs as business requires

Qualifications

• New York Labor Law claims experience required, 4+ years directly in NYLL
• Strong planning and organizational skills, including time management and prioritization
• General liability claims background helpful
• Willingness to obtain adjuster licensure in states requiring it
• Occasional travel required

Compensation: $140-150K base, plus discretionary incentive bonus and benefits
