As a Principal Software Engineeryou will work with other software engineers, data engineers, solutions engineers, architects, managers, directors and vendors to help maintain our Claims and Policy Center application. You will work collaboratively with
remotely distributed team to develop, maintain and improve performance of application and/or software from user stories and technical/architectural specifications. You will analyze complex technical system problems and create innovative solutions that exceed expectations.
QualificationsExperience
- Ten years of related software engineering experience
- A comprehensive understanding of agile environments
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary frameworks andemerging technologies
- A history of practicing DevOps and SecOps
- A strong background in business operations andstrategies, including knowledge of global business, technology trends andthe financial services industry
Skills
- Solid negotiation, facilitation, consensus buildingand influencing capabilities
- Ability to identify patterns and problems acrossteams and deliver effective solutions
- Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-movingcircumstances
- A design thinking and test-driven development mindset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, andan aptitude for working in teams
Knowledge
Experience developing or architectingcloud-hosted, responsive web applications using Java, SpringBoot, AWS, ACORD
XML, React, Typescript, Node.js and MongoDB
- Strong background in code review
- High-level proficiency with client-side JavaScriptframeworks, server-side frameworks, and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with event-based System of Engagementarchitectures and integration with API exposing microservices
- Deep understanding of layered solutions and designs
- Cognizance of security concerns, from access controland authentication to secured SDLC processes
- Understanding of DCI/MDM systems, data ingestion andcloud-scale data sets
Education
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical orbusiness discipline, or equivalent experience

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
