Casualty Field Adjuster

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• Field investigating,
• Part-time (possibly leading to full time) Field Adjuster
• We need someone that can handle the field investigations and has a working knowledge of General Liability, Auto Claims, and Construction Claims, Food Service Industry, etc.
• Take recorded and written statements, both in person and over the phone.
• Knowledge of how to transfer the recorded statement to our office via digital file.
• Conduct scene investigations, including taking detailed measurements, including the use of a level, when necessary, diagrams
• Takes the statements of all insureds, witnesses, and unrepresented claimants.
• Locate individuals that are needed to be found
• Prepare a comprehensive captioned report
• Knowledge of how to mount photos onto a template
• Ensuring that claims are not fraudulent and if so, identifying “Red Flags”
• Contacting claimant’s employers additional information if the claim is questionable
• Conferring with legal counsel and clients as needed

Skills and Qualification: Claims Adjusters must consider multiple pieces of information to carefully make a decision. In addition to being a licensed General Adjuster, the following Skills and Qualifications are essential for the position:

• Excellent Communication skills to gather information from individuals, including medical experts, claimant’s, policyholder and witnesses for the mitigation of claims.
• Attention to detail to carefully review damages, medical reports, specials, property and other documents.
• Interpersonal skills to meet with claimants and other relevant individuals who may be upset by a situation.
• Math skills for calculating damages.
• Strong professional drive
• Strong knowledge of the labor law, sections 240 and 241 (Construction Claims knowledge)
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Listening and Negotiation skills
• Time Management
• Adaptability to Change
• Passion for interacting with people
• Knowledge of working with computer claims software and online applications (Computer Proficiency)

NYS Notary and Spanish speaking is a plus
