The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.


Description

As an Advanced Analytics Consultant on the Indications team in US Retail Markets Small Commercial (SC) Risk Analytics, you will play a key role in improving our crosslines database by writing and improving code. You will be a subject matter expert for the team on best coding and data practices. You will collaborate with other teams and your peers to build framework to analyze the profitability of new products. This role will also provide opportunities to work with other analysts to provide analytical and process support for General Liability rate indications. This is an exciting opportunity where your work will improve indication data and processes to contribute to our teams goal of providing trusted, holistic, and accurate rate indications that inform Small Commercial business strategy!

** This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.**

Responsibilities:

  • Writes, maintains, and improves code for granular crosslines profitability database.
  • Collaborates with peers to build data framework for upcoming new product set(s).
  • Maintains and continuously improves rate indication processes and checks.
  • Advises and assists peers within SC indications team on best coding and data practices.
  • Serves as a team representative for initiatives and working groups related to data, coding, and tools.
  • Works with other analysts to analyze and produce rate indications.
  • Performs ad hoc analyses as requested, working with supervisor and peers.

Preferred Skills:

  • Possesses strong coding skills and knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or Snowflake.
  • Has experience working with granular databases in insurance industry.
  • May have experience working with actuarial rate indication concepts.
  • Enjoys spending majority of time working in data.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum 5 years, typically 7 or more years, of related experience required; Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative field are preferred fields of study.
  • Master's Degree preferred; advanced education may be substituted for years of experience (Ph.D. with no professional experience).
  • Deep knowledge of data sources, tools and business drivers.
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical concepts to improve business outcomes.
  • Ability to build analytic tools that will be used by business teams to analyze results and opportunities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, Python. Preferred to have working knowledge of Snowflake.
  • Must have good planning, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Ability to present data, visually and verbally, to guide conversations with business managers.
