Commercial Auto / Transportation Underwriter

About the Role

Market-leading specialty insurer fleet trucking, independent contractor coverage, and specialty auto risks seeks Commercial Auto/Transportation Underwriting professional to join their team. You will play a critical role in assessing, underwriting, and pricing commercial auto insurance policies. Your expertise will contribute to the profitability and success of our commercial auto insurance portfolio to include Underwriting, Commercial Auto, Transportation, Risk Analysis, Fleet Trucking, Specialty Auto, Trucking, Oil & Gas Haulers, and Transfer Trucking.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Evaluate commercial auto insurance applications, underwrite new policies, and determine appropriate pricing and coverage based on established underwriting guidelines and risk analysis
• Interact with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information, answer inquiries, and provide guidance on underwriting requirements
• Analyze and assess risk factors, loss history, and other relevant data to make sound underwriting decisions and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies
• Determine appropriate pricing for policies, considering various factors such as risk exposure, market conditions, and competitor pricing

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial auto underwriting experience with one or all of these classes: light truck, food delivery, transport, garbage haulers, sand & gravel haulers, tow truck, livestock haulers, and business fleet
• Knowledge of commercial auto insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk assessment
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities
• Effective communication skills for interactions with clients and team members

Compensation

$80,000 to $110,000
