Job Description

Glatfelter Insurance Group's Claims Management Team (GCM) is seeking a full-time Commercial Claims Assistant to join our Claims Management Operations Team. Glatfelter Insurance Group provides highly specialized insurance programs, which include dedicated claims handling and administration, for non-profit and other service organizations, including emergency service organizations, municipalities, water districts, schools, and religious organizations. The Claims Assistant actively collaborates with our outside partners to efficiently register new claims and effectively assists Claims Handlers administering the claims.

Our new team member will be responsible for:

  • Incoming Customer Service call assistance and resolution
  • First Notice of Loss Report Intake
  • New Claim registration and assignment routing
  • Legal eBilling Invoice review
  • Assists with daily check processing
  • Assists with claim file maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Our new team member will be:

  • Self-motivated with an acute attention to detail
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Demonstrate professional oral and written communication skills
  • Be able to effectively manage time and priorities


  • Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum of two years' work experience within the insurance industry, property-casualty insurance, claims handling, or equivalent transferrable skills.
  • Working knowledge of related computer applications and basic computer technologies
  • Working knowledge of insurance company and/or agency operations and commercial claims handling is preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of emergency service organizations, public entities, or health care facilities is preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people (internal and external) in an effective manner using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to meet strict deadlines
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and directions
