This position is filled by an application developer with a mastery level of experience with many years of project coordination or team leader experience. The incumbent is an authority inside and outside the organization in the application of skills, concepts, and abilities to solve the most complex problems. The incumbent is widely recognized within and outside of the company as a key leader of the organization.


• Assumes responsibility for difficult programming tasks by taking a leadership role.

• Performs independent programming solving for complex problems according to the technical specifications and standard system implementation techniques.

• Leads a small technical team or project.

• Reads and interprets technical documents.

• Possesses the knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of computer programming.

• Collaborates with other professionals to ensure high quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures.

• Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.

• Evaluates the existing systems and provides the technical direction to IT support staff.

• Gauges the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems, and develops and implements strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.

• Proposes and creates system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to the system programmer and development teams.

• Prioritizes and executes tasks in a high-pressure environment.


• Bachelor's degree.

• 10 years or more of experience.

• No supervisory/management experience.

• Additional Qualifications:

o Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or equivalent work experience in the business or technical world.

o A minimum of 12 years of experience. Similar industry experience preferred.

o Knowledge of business (insurance marketing, accounting and/or administration) processes and procedures.


• The position is physically comfortable; essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting and temperature; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

• A person in this position exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments

Additional Requirements:

o Development tasks assigned to the incumbent are extremely complex assignments where initiative and independent judgment are mandatory to search out the appropriate course of action within the context of broad goals and long-term objectives. The incumbent develops methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and must manage multiple relationships with the business while protecting the integrity and reliability of their applications. The incumbent is tasked with making decisions that will positively influence the uptime and full recovery of their systems from outages.
