Job Summary:

The Actuarial Pricing department is responsible for developing consistent and market-leading pricing practices within the AXIS Insurance segment and is accountable for Technical Price Modelling, Product Monitoring, Profitability Studies, New Business Due Diligence, Business Planning, and Price Monitoring.

As a lead Pricing Actuary with a concentration on North American Management Liability business units (subject premium $500m+), this individual will directly contribute toward advancing the pricing and analytical capabilities of the Professional Lines practice. He/she will engage proactively with the underwriting and actuarial management teams to design and maintain models that improve risk selection, pricing sophistication, and portfolio mix. This individual will be a contributor to the wider Global Professional Lines pricing practice and will be embedded with the underwriting functions for the business units. The Senior Actuarial Analyst will proactively engage with Reserving, Risk Management, Finance, Claims, and Operations colleagues to achieve desired business outcomes and implement business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, validation, and maintenance of a suite of technical pricing models across the various professional and liability lines products which enable:
    • Technical pricing of individual risks
    • Assessment of individual risk rate adequacy
    • Direct capture of rate and exposure changes from prior terms
  • Recommend and assist with the implementation of more comprehensive data capture and third-party data integration
  • Lead the actuarial database integration for Management Liability and improve database processes and automation supporting a wide range of projects
  • Maintain and improve current predictive models, and explore the suitability of machine learning to improve underwriting and pricing guidelines
  • Integrate advanced risk-based metrics into individual risk pricing and portfolio measurement
  • Recommend and introduce more technical and detailed price monitoring analyses

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • At least four years relevant insurance industry experience which includes experience with the design and architecture of predictive models and database integration
  • Associate or near Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society or other relevant actuarial organization
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, etc., and experience managing large databases
  • Experience with design and architecture of predictive models and database integration
  • Strong ability to develop, recommend and implement new approaches
  • Self-starter, proactive with proven thought leadership
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to establish credibility with senior underwriters and business unit leaders
  • Familiarity with Professional and Management Liability insurance products and concepts.

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $105,000-$125,000(GA), $115,000-$135,000 (IL) and $120,000-$155,000 (NY). The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
