Core Working Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (hybrid working environment).

 

This Training & Development position is full-time and is located in Arlington, Virginia and will report to the Director of Human Resources.     

 

Organization Summary:

Navy Mutual Aid Association (“Association”) is a nonprofit veterans organization with a rich history of over 140 years providing affordable life insurance and annuities, financial education, and veteran services to those who serve, or have served, in any branch of the United States military or uniformed services.  The Association employs 120 mission driven employees with diverse talents and backgrounds skilled in serving the military population and their families by helping them plan for their financial futures.

 

Job Summary:

The Training and Development Manager manages all aspects of organizational development. This position oversees the development of training programs, facilitates change management initiatives, and ensure the application of the latest corporate training environment learning/teaching tools and techniques.  Additionally, the Training and Development Manager ensures all training programs align with the Association’s overall goals and business strategies. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training programs for all staff at all levels in the Association
  • Work with HR team, management, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop curriculum, design learning plans, and facilitate training programs on a variety of topics
  • Schedule training programs for all staff
  • Work with leadership to establish immediate and long-range training priorities
  • Partner with the Association’s management and leadership team to identify learning opportunities and training solutions that meet business needs and organizational change management philosophies
  • Research and apply the latest corporate training environment teaching and learning techniques
  • Collaborate with the HR team and department managers to determine learning paths required for job descriptions
  • Work with HR team and department managers to align training and development to support individual employee goals and career paths
  • Prepare training materials and presentations
  • Create monitoring strategies to ensure on-the-job performance aligns with curriculum parameters

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in training and development
  • Experience working in non-profit or other mission driven organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, training and development or a related field
  • Certification through the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) preferred.
  • Certified Professional Trainer (CPT) designation through the American Training and Seminar Association (ATSA) preferred.
  • SHRM-CP a plus

Work Environment & Location:

  • Standard office working environment. The position is based out of the Association’s Arlington, Virginia Office.
