Our Business Lines (BL) Inland Marine product is an integral part of our diverse Specialty product portfolio, generating ~$300M in direct written premium in profitable business for the organization. It is comprised of three main lines of business: Builder's Risk, Contractor's Equipment and Motor Cargo. 


In this role you will have accountability for countrywide strategies to achieve profit and growth goals for the Inland Marine lines of business. You will set strategic priorities as well as conceptualize, design, and execute on key initiatives to achieve these priorities. You will be responsible for establishing, monitoring and influencing all aspects of product growth and performance, effectively working with and influencing Distribution, Underwriting, and Solutions partners to improve our positioning in market.


Collaborating across functions is key to achieving success and creating positive customer/agent experiences. We serve as both champions and SMEs for specialty products across the company, working with each function to build organization capabilities to profitably grow these lines of business. Not only will you get to see the big picture, you will pro-actively shape it.



  • Own short term and long-term strategies to achieve business plan for your line of business, including coordination of levers spanning pricing, product, distribution/sales/marketing, underwriting/risk selection, and claims.
  • Develop countrywide product/pricing programs; crafting unique state-specific solutions where needed
  • Build a thorough understanding of the customer/agent journey- highlight opportunities to optimize
  • Heavily collaborate across functions to design and execute on key initiatives
  • Leverage analytic skills to prioritize higher-margin activities, ensure efficient growth
  • Frequently communicate and present to senior leaders, including the Product Management Leadership team.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced staff

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to influence priorities with and without direct authority across functions of the broader  organization.
  • Must have good planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Experience managing projects preferred.
  • Highly developed quantitative analysis and decision- making skills.


  • Master's degree or equivalent in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field. Masters, PhD, or equivalent helpful given quantitative work they are leading.
  • Minimum of 7, typically 10 years or more relevant work experience.
  • Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with statistical software packages.
  • Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision-making, communication, and project management skills.
  • Expert knowledge of data sources, tools, and the business (lines, systems, pricing plans).
  • Significant understanding of competitors' pricing strategies and relationship to our own.
  • Industry knowledge developed from internal meetings, news alerts, project-specific work, and proactive research into competitor strategies.
