Senior Account Executive I - Employee Benefits

Summary:

The Senior Account Executive is a leading account management position and will provide a high level of sales support to the Producer and service team, and customer service to clients.  The position requires a significant degree of independent judgment and discretion in order to meet those service levels.  The Senior Account Executive is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with clients, and internal and external business partners. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Includes the following (other duties may be assigned): 

  • Assist in selling, direct selling, marketing, and customer service in coordination with the Producer and other Agency personnel and identifies opportunities for adding other lines of coverage.
  • Directs customer specific initiatives in collaboration with the Producer which deliver value added services through the execution of client specific business plans and service time lines. 
  • Directs account team to ensure client’s needs are met and acts as project manager.  Coordinates efforts of Employee Benefits team assigned to the client. 
  • Assures that service issues, claims, billing, and eligibility are resolved in a timely manner for the client or the carrier. 
  • Assists in plan design development and implementation. 
  • Works collaboratively with financial team and Producers in underwriting and negotiation on behalf of the client. 
  • Works with Analyst in obtaining financial utilization data at regularly scheduled release dates. Assures completion and accuracy of benefit plan design comparisons. 
  • Assists and works with client to ensure regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Assists clients as necessary with compliance and day-to-day issues affecting the client's employee benefits program.
  • Assures HIPAA compliance. 
  • Participates in special projects and teams.
  • Follows agency policies and procedures with respect to all essential duties and responsibilities of the job. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:                    

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ability to develop complete client information and applications / paperwork for new and renewal business under the direction of Producer. 
  • Identifies and initiates renewal process - Collects and researches data. Uses intuition, imagination, creativity, and experience to complement data.  Guides clients through the renewal process, in conjunction with Producer and Proposal Analyst, follows up with underwriters and oversees renewal process.

Education and/or Experience: 

College degree or equivalent experience. 

Language Skills:        

Ability to read and interpret documents such as insurance policies, Agency policies and procedures, and safety rules.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

Mathematical Skills:                    

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. 

Reasoning Ability:                    

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Computer Skills:                    

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of agency management software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, PowerPoint, Word Processing software and Microsoft Outlook. 

Other Qualifications:

Must be able to travel.
