We are looking for a TX Claims Supervisor to join our non-standard auto insurance company. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but not required. SUMMARY: Manage a team of auto insurance claims adjusters with varying complexity claims including property damage, non-represented and represented bodily injury. Provide daily support and monitoring of the claim adjuster team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prioritizes, monitors, and evaluates team’s assignments
- Processes completed inspection materials back to claims representatives utilizing Laserfiche and e-mail notifications
- Alerts Claims Director in the event of potential fraud, recovery, or severity escalation in the claim
- Provides settlement recommendations and direction with unique and/or challenging claims.
- Assists with selecting, training, and developing an effective high performing team of claim adjusters.
- Directs, coaches, and manages the performance of the team.
- Upon receipt, reviews each claim to ensure that all coverage and exposures issues have been identified and investigated. Recommends additional investigation if warranted and adjusts exposures as needed. Documents all actions in a timely manner in the claims system within company guidelines for Best Practices.
- Contacts insurers and claimants within established corporate guidelines to provide notification of reassignment of the claim and to continue the settlement process.
- Communicates to applicable parties the rationale behind coverage or liability decision.
- Handles questions on coverage with a reservation of rights letter and/or non-waiver agreement. Advises the Underwriting Department of adverse findings regarding insureds and/or coverage.
- Conducts investigations independently and at the direction of management utilizing sound investigative procedures to establish liability as quickly as possible.
- Handles all claims within the guidelines of each applicable state and in conjunction with insurance laws and any other laws applicable to the claims. Adheres to Fair Claim Practices Acts established within respective states and to company Best Practices.
- Handles all aspects of claim settlement including investigation, correspondence, negotiation, and settlement.
- Communicates with insureds, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, and other carriers via telephone and written correspondence.
- Interprets medical reports, review medical billing, evaluate claim value, and manage claims to ensure efficient resolution.
- Estimates cost of treatment or compensation for those injured in accidents.
- Provides an exemplary claims experience to insurers and claimants.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Directly supervises 3+ employees within the Claims department
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Certificates, licenses and registrations preferred: Adjuster license required
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office, previous experience in OSIS a plus
