The Casualty Claim Adjuster will become part of a dedicated claims team focusing on Third Party Automobile Bodily Injury and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Subrogation claims. This position interacts extensively with home office technical managers, internal colleagues as well as policyholders, agents, attorneys, appraisers, and a multitude of claim-related service providers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Cultivating relationships with claims and other internal staff, policyholders, attorneys, agents and a variety of service providers and experts all while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants and our policyholders.
• The Casualty Claim Adjuster will be responsible for investigating coverage, liability, and damages, as well as evaluating commercial 3^rd party casualty claims.
• Providing a high level of customer service while managing a portfolio of Commercial Auto and General Liability, with some responsibility handling Auto Property Damage and Collision claims occurring in NJ, PA, NH, MA, and VT.
• Conducting and directing timely and quality claim investigations, evaluations and equitable settlements of all assigned claims.
• Ensuring timely and accurate reserves consistent with established reserving philosophy and practices.
• This is an inside position and limited travel is required to attend mediations and trials.

Qualifications & Skills

• Qualified candidates will have a 4 year degree or equivalent work related experience.
• A minimum of 3 years claims experience handling Third Party Auto Bodily Injury and PIP Subrogation claims.
• Skilled negotiator, capable of formulating strategy and action plans for files.
• Professional designations or working towards industry specific designations are a plus. 
• Exceptional organizational, time management, desk management, communication and negotiation skills are required.
