Claims Associate - EPL & Management Liability

AXIS Insurance is a world leader in specialty lines insurance, including professional liability within the US market. We are seeking a talented and dynamic claims professional to join our Employment Practices Liability (EPL) and Management Liability (ML) claims teams in a hybrid role as a Claims Associate. This position will handle a pending of lower severity primary and excess claims involving Public and Private Companies, Financial Institutions and Private Equity firms. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Handle a portfolio of low exposure large and middle-market public and private company primary and excess claims straddling both the EPL and ML business lines, including analyzing insurance coverage issues and drafting coverage position letters. 
•    Handle a variety of professional liability claims up to $1M+ in potential exposure. 
•    Investigate liability and damages issues in connection with lower severity claims made against our insureds and maintain appropriate documentation in claims files. 
•    Evaluate liability issues claims and damages and make accurate reserve recommendations .
•    Assign and supervise outside counsel in the defense of our insureds in an effort to effectively resolve claims.
•    Maintain and develop relationships with insureds, brokers and outside counsel.
•    Professionally represent AXIS in the marketplace, as needed, and assist claims management underwriting as needed, including providing prompt claim updates.
•    Respond to broker and insured inquiries with a high level of customer service and responsiveness. 
•    Assess claims to support EPL and ML claim metrics/trends in coordination with management. 
•    Participate in special projects and department initiatives as needed. 
•    Communicate regularly with Manager, Senior Claims and Underwriting Managers on losses, reserving, coverage matters and any industry or claims trends.
•    Occasionally attend mediations/settlement conferences and successfully resolve claims. 
•    Provide best-in-class claims service. 

Required Education, Experience and Attributes:
•    Bachelor’s degree; Risk Management/Insurance major or Paralegal certification is a plus 
•    Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Agility, flexible, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational skills a must

•    Prior exposure to employment law, public company and middle-market D&O or E&O matters a plus
