Summary of Position:

This position will work our of our corporate office in Ormond Beach, FL.  The claims examiner position is responsible for the investigation, adjustment, and settlement of Homeowner Property claims. 

This role has 13 openings and offers an annual salary of $42k, with a potential increase after 120 days of employment.    

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for contacting our insured and others to obtain necessary information to evaluate property damage claims.
  • Possesses an understanding of property insurance claims and excellent negotiation skills
  • Responds to correspondence and time sensitive material in a timely manner
  • Establishes reserves for indemnity and expense as required
  • Effectively manages loss adjustment expense
  • Coordinates with approved SFI vendors/experts regarding claims handling as necessary
  • Effectively collaborates with external business partners
  • Exercises independent judgment to appropriately indemnify insureds without overpaying/underpaying
  • Familiarity with ISO Reporting
  • Participate in continuing education and training as required
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation
  • Present a professional and helpful appearance
  • Assist in other areas of department or other departments as required

Department Specific/Non-Essential Functions:

  • External candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university; internal candidates with over 12 months of relevant SFM insurance experience who are actively pursuing a regionally accredited bachelor’s degree, or an AIC/AINS designation may be considered
  • PC literate with a firm understanding of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Required to obtain Adjusters (620) license within 120 days of hire
  • Must fulfill curriculum requirements within 120 days as required for position
