Medical Malpractice Underwriting Manager

Committed to New York’s medical community with data-driven and aggressive claims defense, personalized underwriting services, and effective risk management strategies, this carrier seeks professional liability underwriting manager professional to join their growing team.

This position is responsible for the profitable growth of a book of business, utilizing underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules and NYS insurance laws and regulations. The Sr. Underwriting Manager will have a thorough understanding of strategies and appetites and will use internal and external data to make appropriate individual and portfolio risk decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of renewal and new business including accounts made up of complex risks
• Manage and develop effective producer and client relationships
• Prepare thorough underwriting analysis with detailed exposure analysis and independent underwriter assessment
• Proactively foster and develop positive relationships with key customers
• Ensure production and loss ratio goals are achieved for assigned book of business by reviewing analyzing and evaluating information and taking appropriate action as necessary
• Participate in new product development including rate determination, manuscripting of new policies, endorsements and forms
• Develop and foster growth of less experienced staff

Skills & Experience

• Mid to senior level experience within the Healthcare arena focusing on healthcare facilities and large healthcare practices
• Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree/designation preferred
• Proficient working knowledge of Excel, Pivot tables, and Outlook
• Outcome focused, self-motivated, detail-oriented with good organizational skills

Compensation

$160k + bonus
