Job Details

Acuity is seeking a Heavy Equipment Damage Appraiser to provide technical support to inside claims representatives and field representatives. This includes reviewing auto physical damage estimates for heavy equipment and passenger autos, securing agreed prices with body shops and repair facilities and completing regular re-inspections to ensure compliance with Acuity policies and claims handling standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review Heavy equipment estimates and other estimates to ensure proper business rules are applied and Acuity’s claims handling procedures are followed. Includes writing estimates, applying discount parts when appropriate, completing desk reviews, obtaining ARP with the shops and communicating the information to the claims representatives.
  • Assure shop compliance and control costs.
  • Utilize auto and heavy equipment estimating system and portal usage to ensure efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Establish market value on total losses and communicate the values to the claims representatives.
  • Assist Auto Physical Damage Manager in training sessions - auto estimating, PARS, industry trends, heavy duty equipment and trucking.
  • Assist Auto Physical Damage Manager with the following resources to ensure pricing, efficiencies and procedures are followed: Rental, Salvage, Heavy Duty Equipment and Trucking programs.
  • Assist Auto Physical Damage Manager with the CAT/storm volume, traveling if necessary to handle appraisals when appropriate.
  • Assist Claims Representatives, both ICR and Field, with resources including technical support and guidance.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document the claim file. This includes complete and timely entry of activity log entries, claims system screen updates, and imaged file documentation.
  • Employ and manage outside vendor resources in a cost effective manner.
  • Periodically participate in off-hours storm claims duty as dictated by storm claims volume.
  • Travel to large losses to estimate damages and settle heavy equipment claims.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Engage in claims educational opportunities, both in-house and external, as sponsored by management.
  • Always represent Acuity in a professional manner.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 

High School or technical school degree or equivalent relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE: 

Heavy equipment estimating and physical damage or related body shop experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Knowledgeable in repair and maintenance procedures involving trucks, autos and other mobile equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to efficiently complete a truck/auto estimate utilizing claim estimating software.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in current computer technology.
  • Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others.
