Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for an experienced Human Resource Coordinator for our Human Resources team to join our Corporate Headquarters located in Buffalo, New York. Beginning January 31, 2022 Merchants colleagues will be returning to the office in a Hybrid work schedule. The Hybrid work schedule will require 8 full days per month in the office, with the option to work the remaining days per month at home or in the office. The Human Resource Coordinator will become part of a dedicated Human Resources (HR) team focusing on providing support to the HR department with benefit and leave administration paperwork, new hire orientations, security badges, Employee File Management (EFM), Tuition Reimbursement and Recognition programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reviews and reconciles all monthly, quarterly and annual invoices including but not limited to Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, LTD, and various voluntary insurance offerings.
- Provides and processes required paperwork for leaves of absence to include but not limited to Family Medical Leave Act, Short term disability, and Paid Family leaves.
- Conducts new hire orientation.
- Prepares colleague security badges and maintains system.
- Coordinates filing in EFM to include separating documents that are scanned into the system to the colleague’s record and providing an audit of the employee files.
- Processes and tracks tuition reimbursements for designations and degrees.
- Processes and tracks information for the Company Recognition Program.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Qualified candidates will have a 2 year degree or equivalent work related experience.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in an HR department.
- Prior UKG payroll and/or HRIS desired.
- Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act, Short Term Disability, and Paid Family Leaves preferred.
- Basic accounting and math skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Excellent customer service skills.
