Job Details

Manage, plan, coordinate, and control the capture of accurate data needed to report to industry bureau and state departments of insurance.  Provide management and technical leadership to the department.  Supervisor responsibilities to include staffing, training and development, performance management, and work force planning.

This role can be performed in Merrill, Madison or Milwaukee, WI as well as Denver, CO and Mechanicsburg, PA.

Responsibilities

  • Supervisor/manager responsibilities may include all of the following:
    • Staffing needs, to include interviewing and onboarding for new employees.
    • Training and development, as well as coaching and motivation for staff.
    • Performance management, goal setting, employee engagement, and salary administration.
    • Work force management to include; unit equipment, software, and space needs, approving time off and overtime usage, and budget recommendations.
  • Manage statutory and regulatory requests for data and the development of complex data call criteria, specifying reporting requirements to ensure compliance, quality, and timely submissions.
  • Manage the data reporting for statutory and regulatory data requests.  Interpret and communicate with internal departments regarding data concerns/issues with:  input errors or incorrect/inaccurate interpretations of policy coverage, data, and regulatory reporting solutions.  Identify and implement changes to automated systems to comply with reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of statistical files.  Manage and monitor accuracy of statistical input and output of complex business and technical requirements, including worksheet automation programming, and initiate request for changes.  Oversee the development of test plans and testing of system edits.
  • Establish priority of projects within the department, and monitor the status of projects and issues that may adversely affect project completion.  Review completed project with team members.
  • Coordinate the statutory and regulatory reporting efforts.  Participate in department/company projects of various size and scope which impact data and regulatory reporting, including involvement in cross-functional change management working groups and committees.
  • Identify opportunities and recommend, plan, and coordinate the data used for statutory and regulatory reporting initiatives that support corporate strategic plans, goals, and objectives.
  • Provide information related to statistical data and data resolution, policy coverage and data relationship, source files and data flow, industry and internal business and technical requirements, and reporting, including interpretation and clarification of content and application. 
  • Recommend, plan, and coordinate the establishment of process and efficiency improvements, quality control measures, and reporting best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive responsibility in analysing and reporting data, processes, and workflows, preferably within a property casualty insurance setting.
  • Prior supervisor experience highly preferred, or demonstration of ability to provide leadership in a team setting.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Related industry courses (i.e., INS, CPCU, etc.) are desirable.
