Job Summary

The Data Engineering Product Manager is responsible for defining, delivering, and managing the lifecycle of products and portfolio as they relate back to the larger department vision and objectives. The Product Manager manages data project priorities across different departments, implements new technologies / tooling to further data science, analytics, and reporting as well as help drive scalable data sharing practices. This role collaborates with key stakeholders across the department and enterprise to develop requirements, execute an integrated communication plan, and develop data assets that support the needs to the business.

This position is a permanent remote home-based worker. Your home office does not need to be near an Allstate office, but it does need to be in the United States. This position is eligible for a monthly connectivity reimbursement to offset the costs of internet and phone expenses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements through direct interaction with business users, data science / analytics teams, as well as software development teams.
  • Track the performance of resources and related capabilities, constantly evolving our offering to scale our capability set with the growth of the business and needs of our customers
  • Exhibit/build leadership skills by taking ownership of data development, coordinating with a team of data engineers, and working closely with other teams to craft best practices and standards.
  • Communicates Product updates to executive stakeholders, communicates clearly in group meetings, leads and facilitates business area processes
  • Develop and maintain effective data engineering process and procedures, and ensure on-time delivery of high impact data pipelines without sacrificing sustainability and minimizing technical debt
  • Partner with analytical peers and stakeholders to help develop and continuously refine the strategic and tactical roadmap and maintain focus on high impact activities
  • Define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production
  • Manage development of data resources and support new product launches
  • Ensure effective documentation, solution design, thorough code review, and a high standard of data quality management
  • Proactively solves potential problems with other product teams / business partners and effectively influences the priorities of other functions / enterprise strategy teams

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 7 or more years of related experience
  • 5 or more years of Data Warehouse Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Functional Skills

  • A desire to work in a collaborative, intellectually curious environment
  • Does not need to be an expert coder, but should be able to understand data engineer jargon
  • Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Extensive Experience with Big Data Technologies
  • Proven experience creating roadmaps for Data Strategy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex technology solutions to senior leadership, gain alignment, and drive progress
  • Strategic & critical thinking: ability to understand both the smaller and the bigger picture

Compensation Data

Compensation range for this position is $110,000- $140,000per year, based on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
