Job Summary:


The Compensation Consultant influences the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs in order to clearly, consistently, and transparently support the achievement of organizational objectives. This is achieved by leveraging compensation expertise, knowledge of business objectives and collaborating effectively with Talent Partners, cross-functional experts, and leaders across the company.



  • Acts as strategic compensation partner on various issues for assigned Sr Talent Advisor(s) & Talent Advisor teams and business leaders across functional areas/regions/corporate functions. May support a Regional Talent Officer & team in some instances, with support as needed from Sr Comp Consultant or other team members. Directs planning, design and implementation of compensation programs and projects; program areas may include job evaluation, market pricing, base pay, incentives, and regulatory compliance/reporting/documentation.
  • Maintains productive, long-term relationships with talent & business stakeholders. Conducts periodic reviews of work status, progress, and prioritization of incoming requests. Creates opportunities to educate colleagues on client business & talent priorities. Participates in negotiating the terms of prioritized requests; helps to level set expectations across all parties (business, talent, & comp).
  • Directs and completes detailed analyses to support the design and development of compensation programs to better align corporate compensation structure with current industry trends and business needs. When necessary, works with outside consultants to conduct special studies on pressing compensation issues.
  • Establishes, in partnership with talent stakeholders and with support from manager & Sr Consultant as needed, short-term compensation priorities and long-term compensation plans for assigned client groups. Contributes to compensation planning and priority-setting at the business-unit level. Ability to balance client-specific needs & priorities with enterprise goals, values, priorities, and cross-business unit harmony.
  • Leads compensation project for assigned client group(s). Project manager or team member on medium to large-scale compensation projects. Scope of projects is generally functional, regional, or corporate function-wide, but may also be business unit-wide. Will also contribute, and may lead, projects with business unit-wide and/or global scope with support from others.
  • May handle multiple concurrent and diverse initiatives. With support from others as needed, addresses potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments. Works with or leads others to re-prioritize work and reschedule commitments as necessary. Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work. Shifts focus among several efforts as required by changing priorities.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to redefine and streamline processes. Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement changes and recommend best practices. Documents new procedures and workflow accordingly.
  • Identifies and applies metrics, reporting and analyses to measure the effectiveness of compensation program design and delivery.

  • Strong knowledge of compensation programs and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills. Experience in project management including project scoping, planning, and execution. Strong ability to build rapport and trust with client groups in order to positively influence decisions and actions.
  • Understanding of business needs and how to leverage compensation expertise to meet those needs; demonstrates flexibility and adaptability.
  • Displays strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced ability to manage multiple priorities and address competing points of view. Competencies typically acquired through a bachelor`s degree (preferably in Human Resources or Business) or equivalent experience, in addition to 7+ years of relevant and progressively more responsible experience, to include 5+ years of compensation experience.
