GRS Business Data Solutions Engineering is searching for a highly productive, experienced Product Owner II for our Surety BI team. In this role you will be responsible for delivering the informational, reporting, and analytical capabilities for the Surety business segment, while applying a growth mindset, to drive innovation and to transform our organization to one that creates a competitive advantage through the way we use technology.  Working with the Surety Sr. Director Product Owners in the business, the diverse business user groups in Surety, as well as your peers and partners in Surety Technology, you will define and deliver market-differentiating data capabilities, while driving the evolution of our tech stack towards target architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating a product mindset, works closely with consumers, Data Architects, Solution Engineers, as well as with peers within the Data organization to establish the concept of Data as a Product, working together to establish product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Surety BI. 
  • Brings stakeholders and team members together to rally around the product roadmap, managing the backlog and prioritizing work to deliver incremental business value at the earliest opportunity.
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile development methodologies. Ensures effective team Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement.
  • Drives alignment with stakeholders to understand the impact that their products' regulatory, compliance, and other industry constraints will have on other products in the portfolio. Negotiates with internal and external squads/teams to set aligned priorities among squads/teams both within and outside the portfolio.
  • Uses meaningful metrics to ensure the product's performance is aligned with strategy and to help ensure constant progress toward outcomes.  Establishes Objectives and Key Results.  Uses KPI's to help measure incremental progress toward OKR's.     
  • Responsible for clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating, and supporting alignment around product strategy. Contributes to aligning development and business goals and priorities while working with stakeholders and squad/team to remove roadblocks to execution.
  • Monitors and maintains the product health, supporting long-term product viability and efficiency, and balancing long and short term and costs withdesired outcomes.
  • Analyzes feasibility, cost of delay ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product.
  • Establishes stakeholder expectations for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities. Determines expected value and any changes in value to be delivered in each iteration (sprint, monthly, quarterly, etc.) based on the squad/team-determined capacity.
  • Leads customer-driven design and usability testing for the squads/team and across the portfolio. Ensures a well-positioned product through market & industry analysis.

 

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management and a minimum of 5 to 7 years direct experience with agile teams as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Develops strong stakeholder relationships and influencing across multiple organizational boundaries. Ability to lead varied audiences through census building.
  • Demonstrated experience leading varied audiences through the development of complex ideas, issues and designs.
  • Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
  • Problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solutions and progress.
  • Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio strongly preferred.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty and exploit market opportunities.
