Job Summary

The Strategic HR Business Partner role supports the Strategic HR Director/Principal HR Business Partner to provide strategic partnership to the executive and senior leadership team of an Area of Responsibility (AOR) or Market Facing Business (MFB) at Allstate. This role works very closely with their leader, the Principal HR Business Partner, the Strategic HR Consulting and Delivery team, and other stakeholders to consult with business leaders on high-impact strategic talent initiatives across all phases of the employee lifecycle that drive business value and results.

Business Areas

Allstate Technology, Services and Venture's (ATSV) is a global organization that includes technology, corporate venture capital, sourcing and procurement and real estate. ATSV brings the technological vision and operational capabilities needed to companys core businesses and helps drive Allstate's Transformative Growth Plan, which leverages the Allstate brand, people and technology to accelerate growth in its personal property-liability business. Strategic Ventures is Allstates corporate venture capital group, initiating investments and partnerships with innovative startups and emerging growth companies.

Allstate Distribution is comprised of four teams, each a part of our integrated distribution strategy. The Agency Sales channel is focused on our traditional exclusive agent system and developing new and innovative agency distribution solutions, the Direct channel supports direct sales growth and service with employees operating in a virtual call-center environment, the Independent Agency channel which sells Allstate and National General branded products through a network of independent agencies and, the new Alternative Distribution system which is focused on distributing Allstate branded products within a business to business to consumer environment (B2B2C). The Strategic HRBP position may support all channels at times and will be the primary business partner for Allstate Direct and Alternative Distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Through advanced business knowledge and financial acumen, strategic and systems thinking, in-depth knowledge of the employee lifecycle, and client relationships, provides evidence-based consulting on strategic talent initiatives including but not limited to: human capital planning, compensation, succession & development, Inclusive Diversity, engagement, Executive coaching, and workforce transitions.
  • In partnership with the Strategic HR Consulting and Delivery team, utilizes Project/Product Management and HR subject matter expertise to contribute to or lead the delivery of talent strategies of moderate to high complexity to achieve business priorities. Ensures all projects and initiatives are explicitly linked to delivering business objectives and drive business value.
  • In partnership with the People Analytics team, leverages Analytics and Benchmarking (internal/external) resources to support talent strategies and recommend action plans for complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Utilizes evidence-based communication/storytelling to influence complex talent strategies by presenting data-driven recommendations for an executive audience. Ability to understand and portray both high level context and deep detail based on audience needs or preference.
  • Supports change management efforts for complex AOR efforts by leading and executing complex change plans and communications as it relates to business strategy changes with associated talent implications
  • Navigates effectively between the needs of the AOR and overall needs of the organization.
  • Utilizes evidence-based communication/storytelling to influence complex talent strategies by presenting data-driven recommendations for an executive audience. Ability to understand and portray both high level context and deep detail based on audience needs or preference.
  • Supports change management efforts for complex AOR efforts by leading and executing complex change plans and communications as it relates to business strategy changes with associated talent implications
  • Navigates effectively between the needs of the AOR and overall needs of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
7 or more years of related experience
Functional Skills
Strong business acumen with talent/people lens
Foundational understanding of the employee lifecycle and HR system
Foundational ability for creative problem solving
Ability to influence up, down, and across
Tactfully challenges the status quo and identifies opportunity for continuous improvement

Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of business software, SAP and HR Platforms preferred
Understands and applies consulting framework to include: scoping, contracting, discovery/diagnostic, etc.

Compensation Data

The average hiring salary range for this role is approximately$100,000 - $140,000 + bonus
