Arch Insurance Group is seeking a motivated actuary to join our team. Our group supports P&C Programs and Guaranteed Cost Workers' Compensation. The P&C Programs business provides highly specialized and tailored insurance products in Workers Compensation, General Liability, Commercial Auto Liability, and Property.

Job Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Analytics and Monitoring
    • Perform portfolio profitability & segmentation analyses to identify profitable growth opportunities and areas requiring remediation
    • Conduct due diligence and pricing review on new program opportunities
    • Communicate portfolio insights with business & MGUs to help develop strategies to facilitate profitable growth
    • Develop metrics to proactively assess & monitor business strategies executions, emerging trend and early signals.
    • Apply innovative approaches to refine pricing parameters (large loss load, LDF, Trend, etc.) and segmentation
    • Effectively use technology to improve process efficiency
  • Business & MGU partnership – Engage and collaborate with program managers and Managed General Underwriters (MGUs) to provide actionable advice on developing, executing and monitoring our business strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Individual Account Pricing and benchmarking
    • Develop individual account benchmark pricing tools and incorporate predictive models where appropriate.
    • Potential large account pricing on referrals to determine appropriate premium and collateral for large risks.
  • Regulatory - Collaborate with Underwriters, Rate Filing and Compliance to launch new products, on-board new programs or revise existing products / rate plans.
Required Skills/Experience

Level and role are flexible for a talented candidate with long-term fit and potential. Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • P&C Actuarial Qualifications: FCAS or ACAS preferred. Expect 5-8 years of property and casualty experience. Will consider strong candidates with 3+ years of experience and near ACAS.
  • Software skills: Proficient w. Excel/Word/ PowerPoint; basic knowledge of R & SQL needed, Python & Power BI preferred.
  • Communication: both oral and written communication skills including presentations and marketing. Able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audience.
  • Leadership: Able to lead discussion with cross-functional team. Supervisory and management experience preferred.
  • Collaboration: Able to effectively collaborate with cross-functional business partners with strength and experience as a teacher, supportive peer, and contributor to a positive culture.
  • Efficiency: Strong productivity and organizational / project management skills.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills: theoretical foundation, work quality, productivity, creativity, ingenuity & problem-solver.
  • Business acumen: market awareness, well-rounded insurance company and industry knowledge, curiosity and entrepreneurship.
