The candidate selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home in a designated work area until such time as it is determined that colleagues will return to the office.

The Corporate Communication Specialist will become part of a dedicated marketing team, and will work alongside team members in both marketing and other company departments.  The Corporate Communication Specialist will focus on developing marketing bulletins, flyers, brochures and press releases etc. to support the company’s marketing strategies, public relations and promote the overall Merchants Insurance Group image.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Develops marketing bulletins including but not limited to bulletins, flyers, brochures, forms and email communications.
  • Creates sale support materials for new products and product enhancements.
  • Responsible for developing press releases to support Merchants’ newsworthy events i.e. product development, program introductions and enhancements and promotions.
    • Develop and maintaining media contacts.
  • Researches topics and prepares appropriate Blog and news articles for Merchants Insurance Group website and social media platforms.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 4 year college degree in journalism/communications or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in a variety of communications media including writing, editing, and promotions.
    • Experience may include Internships and graduate study experience/projects.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute professional, creative well written articles.
    • SEO writing experience a plus.
  • Organization and time-management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office computer skills.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud experience (InDesign, Illustrator).
