We rank in the top 10 percent out of more than 1,000 U.S. property-casualty insurance groups (based on net premiums written).

Our financial rating from the A.M. Best Company (the leading rating organization for property-casualty insurance industry) is "A-, Excellent." We were founded in Harrisburg, Pa., (where we still operate our headquarters) in 1919, by a farmers' association that was dissatisfied with the high cost of workers' compensation insurance. Within a few years, our company began offering other types of insurance and quickly grew into a full-service company.
