The team is building new features and capabilities to drive consumers to enhanced digital underwriting experiences.

 

We are looking for a talented full stack developer to join us in enhancing our Global Underwriting Policy and Platform for Specialty products and capabilities. These are high visibility products that are growing every day as customers are becoming more familiar with and comfortable using digital channels to service their insurance products while on their device of choice.  

 

By combining the latest architectures, tools and technologies we enable and empower you to learn about, discover and replace components as you grow within the team.  

 

What you'll be doing:

 

  • Collaborating closely with a team of software engineers to deliver complex software solutions.
  • Mentor, coach and collaborate with software engineers
  • Working in an agile environment with business stakeholders, product owner, solutions engineer and other software engineers to review and refine stories and execute on them using excellent engineering practices.
  • Using your technical knowledge to analyze technical system problems and design and implement effective solutions.
  • Hands-on development and problem resolution, writing clean, maintainable code and perform peer code-reviews.
  • Embracing and modeling engineering excellence and best practices.
  • Contributing to the development and growth of the team.
  • Being curious and innovating using new tools and techniques.
  • Providing periodic production deployments and support.
  • Application and RESTful API servicess development, design and prototyping.
  • Partnering with UI/UX to build the interface with focus on usability features, creating compelling mobile device specific user interfaces and experiences.
  • Optimizing performance for the applications & web.
  • Remaining up to date on the latest industry trends in commercial insurance and digital technologies.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline, preferably Computer Science, Math, or Software Development.
  • Knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals (problem solving, complexity analysis, object-oriented design, functional programming, etc.).
  • Experience with the following: React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, Java or Python, GraphQL, Microservices and TypeScript
  • AWS experience
    • Proficient - IAM, RDS, S3, API Gateway, Lambda, CloudWatch, EventBridge
    • Nice to have: DynamoDB,
  • Familiarity with identity providers - Octa/Auth0 preferred + AzureAD
  • DevOps experience - shift-left, CI/CD tools, and methodologies
  • Proficient w/ relevant testing frameworks and fundamentals - Jest, Rspec, Pytest, and integration testing frameworks
  • Proficient w/ Git
  • Command-line fundamentals - how to get around, find docs, basic commands - OS agnostic, but Unix/Linux users will have a better experience here.
  • Strong understanding of how to debug problems using various tools.
  • Strong Object-Oriented fundamentals
  • Firm understanding of Containerization
  • UI/UX design experience. Accessibility design experience is nice to have.

 

Experience or knowledge of the following:

 

  •  5+ years of professional experience
  • A strong desire to improve the customer experience.
  • Behavior and/or Test-Driven Development.
  • Functional Test Frameworks.
  • Exposure to Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery concepts Bamboo
  • Agile and Scrum development methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, architectures and technical standards.
  • Experience with layered system architectures and layered solutions; understanding of shared software concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge of a business function(s) and of business operations.
  • Understands the concept of technical debt and effective management of it
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers and to maintain architectural vision and quality standards.
