Patriot National Underwriters, Inc. a subsidiary of Heartland Security Insurance Group, is an MGA/Surplus Lines agency that believes in conducting business by way of building personal relationships and responding to the needs of our business partners.  

Position Summary

The Senior MGA Insurance Broker is responsible for advising agents on risk management needs and helping devise new way to mitigate risks. To solicit new business accounts and maintain existing commercial accounts to enhance agency profitability. To also train for a significant leadership position.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in any discipline. Risk management experience of 5 years or more will be considered in lieu of college degree.
  • At least five or more years of experience in commercial lines insurance sales in all lines of coverage.
  • Must have working knowledge of workers compensation insurance.
  • Holds active Property and Casualty insurance agent’s license.
  • Pursuit of technical education required and should be actively seeking CIC or other designations.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in Business and/or Risk Management and Insurance.
  • Surplus Lines insurance agent's license.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Developing new insurance programs.
  • Gathering information from agents, assessing their insurance needs and risk profile.
  • Developing relationships with underwriters and agents.
  • Marketing and acquiring new agents.
  • Renewing or amending existing policies.
  • Building and maintaining ongoing relationships with agents and underwriters including scheduling and attending meetings.
  • Foreseeing clients’ insurance needs, such as policy renewals.
  • Researching insurance companies’ policies and negotiating with underwriters to find the most suitable insurance for clients at the best price.
  • Arranging specialized types of insurance coverage in complex cases; this may involve preparing reports for insurance underwriters and negotiating with insurers.
  • Administrative tasks such as dealing with paperwork, correspondence, keeping detailed records.
  • Winning accounts against competitors.
  • Keeping up with changes in the insurance market.
  • Intermediate to advanced-level proficiency with Microsoft suite of products.
