PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of this job is to manage a unit of Field Premium Audit professionals to include Field Audit Supervisors and Auditors. This position exists to provide guidance and direction to the Field Premium Audit team in order to ensure timely and accurate physical audits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages and oversees Field Audit staff and coordinates services.

  • Assists reviewers and underwriters on technical issues.
  • Develops and oversees a network of reliable fee audit services to supplement field staff.
  • Monitors entire field audit inventory for equal workflows, timeliness, and quality.

Grows and develops premium audit team members and leaders.

  • Develops onboarding tools and training materials to be used across the department.
  • Conceptualizes and executes trainee programs as needed.
  • Guides and directs field audit supervisors in technical and personnel areas.

Plans, improves, and executes region goals.

  • Assists in budgeting process.
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with all branch managers serviced by team.
  • Monitors policy counts and projections.
  • Coordinates department planning with Field Audit Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises vendors and employees within the Field Audit team and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations/goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university: Business Administration, Accounting, Business or related degree, preferred. Minimum 7 – 10 years of related experience and/or training; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

APA, CIPA, or CPCU preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Working knowledge of field premium auditing principles and practices. Ability to lead, manage, coach and mentor a team. Must have a good working knowledge of Workers' Compensation Insurance and the various rating jurisdictions and agencies. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret payroll records, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to complex inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be comfortable using computers and competent in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Required to travel as needed within a set territory to an insureds' office location to conduct audits. In addition, travel for management team meetings, one-on-one or ride-along meetings, and attending court cases as required on occasion.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job is a combination of working from the office and working in the insured's clerical office areas. Requires travel (driving and flying) to insureds' locations to conduct audits. Customer worksites may vary in the environment.
