Job Details
Primary job functions and basic duties of this position:
- Investigates, evaluates and resolves property damage claims for coverage eligibility based on the applicable laws, policy terms, loss cause, occurrences and damages.
- Assists customers throughout the claims process in a courteous, timely and responsive manner.
- Select and work with legal counsel in defense of disputed claims.
- Refers and audits contractor’s for dwelling and contents damage estimates. Secures supporting documentation for a determination and issuing of appropriate payment.
- Works with contractors to resolve issues involving coverage, damage, workmanship or other.
- Creates and maintains a cadence of accountability for contractor partners, customer choice contractors, attorney’s, vendors and staff team members to move claims through repair and resolution with an attention to reasonableness and accuracy.
- Assists in development and training of team members and business partners.
- Maintains outstanding communication standards with insured, claimant, vendors, agents, staff and contractors. A high level of verbal and written communication skills is required and expected.
- Coordinates and communicates with adjusters to ensure compliance to company standards with good faith claims handling.
- Understanding of and compliance with Utah Unfair Claims Practices Act. Qualifications:
- Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree, equivalent training or related experience is required
Required Knowledge:
Working knowledge of home estimating including computer related applications
Working knowledge of standard construction repair for multiple trades
Working knowledge of Excel or similar applications
Training may be provided in areas specific to investigations and regulations
Experience Required:
A minimum of 5 years property claims handling
3+ years home estimating or home repair experience
2+ years Property Insurance claims handling
Experience Preferred
2+ years Insurance investigation of third party liability and/or fraud claim handling
Skills/Abilities:
Excellent communication and public relations skills
Well organized and attentive to detail
Excellent negotiation skill
Ability to read and interpret contractual language
Familiar with PC software programs
Ability to resolve conflict amicably
Ability to formulate and present training and written communications
Works well under pressure/stress
