Claims Specialist

Madison National Life, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Independence Holding Company, has an opportunity for an experienced Disability Claims Specialist in our Group Insurance department. The main responsibilities for this position include the eligibility assessment of long-term and short-term disability applications based on the policy provisions of specific disability plan using managed claims model. Adjudicate Life claims following policy provisions.

A successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills including the ability to convey routine and complex information to external contacts in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner. Must possess thorough understanding of short and long-term disability concepts and related benefit information. Candidate must have effective listening skills and must appropriately respond to questions asked in a clear and concise manner. Ability to exercise superior judgment with regard to confidential information required along with high level math skills.

We are searching for a candidate who has a Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of experience or High School Degree with at least four years of insurance experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is essential. Familiarity with claims operating systems preferred.
