Job Details

General Purpose of Position:

The Claims Processor is responsible for the prompt and effective multi-aspect processing of claims in accordance with applicable procedures and claim guidelines. The Claims Processor will assist in the timely and effective processing of various aspects of property claims by constructively servicing our policyholders and supporting the primary assigned claim adjusters.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The following are some of the essential functions of the position. These functions are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.

  • Assist with claim investigation with the assistance of the assigned desk adjuster as needed.

  • Review supplemental documentation and issue payments on previously closed claims within set authority levels. This includes applicable depreciation payments.

  • Manage claim check cancel requests and reissues. Monitor for trends and report trends to management.

  • Assist the assigned desk adjuster by composing and sending out status, contact, RFI, withdraw and routine settlement letters.

  • Assemble and manage contents inventories on claims involving personal property damage, utilizing approved vendor services.

  • Manage additional living expense submissions on claims involving ALE.

  • Complete expense payments with direction from adjusting staff.

  • Receive calls and monitor adjuster inventory and immediate policyholder requests during assigned adjuster absences.

  • Send alert reports to Underwriting and SIU unit regarding risks and exposure hazards in accordance with established guidelines.

  • All other job tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong organization, prioritization, and multiple-task handling skills.

  • Excellent typing and computer skills including computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF Writer, Outlook, and the Internet.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced claims environment while maintaining organization.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to work independently and to use problem solving techniques.

  • Ability to exercise necessary confidentiality and discretion daily.

Certificates or Licenses:

As required by regulatory entities. Relevant professional designations or skill certifications are desirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The employee may be required to use any or all of the following on a daily basis: PC, telephone, cell phone, scanner, fax, printer and other office equipment.
