As the Zone Manager, you will be responsible for Distribution Operations within designated zone. The Zone Manager manages, plans, and coordinates the activities for a team of Surety Operations Managers, Supervisors, and/or Underwriting Assistants. Ensures policies and procedures are consistent and quality control and risk controls are in place and monitored. Develops and trains staff to handle/process domestic and expanding international businesses. Serves as critical member in significant projects and initiatives.

  • Responsible for Distribution Operations within assigned zone.

  • Oversees and ensures that field underwriting assistant policies and procedures are effective and consistently followed nationally.

  • Trains staff to handle/book international business.

  • Drives consistency throughout the field organization.

  • Provides input, develops, and drive best practices, process, training and implementation.

  • Collaborates with all levels of Field Operations Managers and Underwriters, IT and Training as well as with peers with the purpose of enhancing field operations.

  • May conduct in person or web training for field underwriting support unit outside of designated zone. Supports operations functions (customer service, applications, analysis) and ensures all SLAs are met. Collaborates with Compliance Manager to ensure quality control and risk controls are in place in area of responsibility.

  • Oversees the completion of field underwriting support, quality assurance reporting to ensure compliance and responds to internal audit findings.

  • Collaborates with Field Underwriting and Regional Vice Presidents to ensure Field Underwriting Support enhances our agency partner's experience as well as the experience of the field underwriting unit. Accountable for and oversees employee hiring, development and retention of field underwriting support employees.

  • Forecasts staffing needs for remote and on-site support throughout assigned zone.

  • Promotes employee development through effective planning, training, verbal and written communications, and cross- training. Oversees and reviews peer reviews and identifies areas for improvement.

  • Projects, tracks, and manages budgets for department.

  • Serve as a critical member on significant projects and improvement initiatives.






  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Surety operations support management as typically acquired by 10 years of prior experience performing underwriting support and overseeing operations support staff.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, work independently, apply sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities effectively with appropriate urgency.
  • Ability to assign, direct, and evaluate the work of staff members in multiple offices, and nationally resulting in a high performing team.
  • Skills in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. Proven problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
