Set within Portfolio Management, the Consultant, Product Research – Business Lines Product Portfolio Management assists in the analysis of the company's product portfolio, the development of capacity forecasting and portfolio planning, as well as knowledge management and communications strategy. Under limited supervision, performs forecasting and planning in order to provide realistic timeframes for delivering initiatives according to project plans, communicates priorities, and drives transparency into the Portfolio.  May oversee projects that are complex and require greater expertise, typically for higher volume regions. This role is focused on ensuring transparency and prioritization on all Business Lines Product initiatives that are underway. They will be deeply involved with intake and prioritization, including when an imperative has a new project or epic to spin off or that requires technical support. This role dives in and provides scope and forecasting capacity, as well as planning to provide realistic timeframes for delivering on the initiatives underway. The Consultant, Product Research will facilitate cross-functional collaboration across the Business Lines Product Delivery Portfolio, Portfolio communications and reporting, and support intake and prioritization activities.

  • Under general direction, provides technical and analytical assessments of issues facing the SBU.
  • Utilizes advanced predictive modeling and statistical techniques to solve business problems and makes recommendation on alternative courses of action.
  • Builds advanced tools and queries for others to use.
  • Manages projects of moderate complexity and duration.
  • May lead vendor projects on select projects.
  • Presents work to Research managers, National Product Managers, DSO's and frequently Product SVP's. Mentors others as assigned.
  • May supervise day-to-day work of college interns. Conducts high complexity analysis under minimal direction sets up and runs advanced loss and demand models.
  • Queries data to conduct ad hoc analysis of metrics and answer advanced business questions.
  • Builds advanced tools and queries for others to use.
  • Performs the underlying analysis on projects important to the SBU.
  • Provides recommendations on the appropriate tools and techniques to perform analysis.
  • May lead aspects of special projects.
  • Leads own workstreams on all projects. Manages low to moderate complexity projects including members within and outside team.
  • Conducts competitive intelligence and understands market trends for a product line Monitors and interprets developments.
  • Serves as ad hoc resource for less experienced analysts.
  • Mentors others as assigned and when approached.
  • May manage college interns.
  • May conduct analysis to evaluate and implement vendor products.
  • May lead certain vendor projects.

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field Minimum 4 year's relevant work experience, typically 6 years.
  • Master's degree beneficial. Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, Emblem).
  • Must have strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skills.
  • Experience managing projects preferred.
