Job Details

The Account Executive’s primary role is to work effectively with the Sales Executives and others in acquiring and retaining clients, with a targeted focus on “larger” clients. Seen as the client’s primary contact with Propel, the Account Executive is instrumental in developing and building solid relationships and ensuring client satisfaction. Accompanying producers on sales and renewal presentations and routinely will facilitate these individually in lieu of producer, managing an assigned producers book of business, carrier negotiations, and claims support. Responding to formal RFPs and independently maintaining client relationships with minimal supervision or producer involvement will also be required.

Job Functions:

  • Routinely visit with the client and function as the primary contact for coverage consultation and service issues.
  • Manage the renewal process including holding internal and external pre-renewal strategy meetings, directing the marketing process and assisting preparation of the renewal proposal.
  • Establishing, implementing and managing written service timelines and service calendars, ensuring commitments are adhered to, that are in line with client expectations.
  • Facilitate client meetings including preparation of agendas, materials, coordination of presenters, drafting and distributing meeting notes.
  • Complete and maintain client stewardship reports.
  • Advise clients regarding coverage and risk exposures, reviewing contracts and policies, negotiating with carriers to minimize gaps and omissions.
  • Audit sales executives book, reviewing for potential gaps in coverage or coverage’s yet to offer and ensure these gaps are documented as discussed and/or offered
  • Research coverage issues, including negotiating with carriers to resolve client needs and expectations.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve customer inquiries and problems.
  • Attend claims reviews, ensuring claims issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Prepare new business opportunities for marketing, submit prospect to selected markets, analyze proposals & quotes and negotiating final coverage terms and pricing..
  • Prepare spreadsheets and other complex charts as needed or requested.
  • Monitor expiration lists and receivables, ensuring financials are within established goals and timelines, facilitating collection of outstanding receivables if necessary.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with Account Managers and other internal Propel staff to provide coverage checklists and other resources to ensure client focus is maintained at all times.
  • Perform other duties as required by Commercial Manager or Sales Executive.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to manage sophisticated risk management accounts and non-standard insurance techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of carriers and industry standard coverage forms.
  • Project management and delegation ability.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Agency Management Systems Experience - AMS Sagitta preferred.
  • Specific Industry knowledge e.g.: Assisted Living etc. a plus.
  • Strong work ethic – timely follow-up, team oriented, proactive, detail oriented, and dependable.
  • Ability to work independently while keeping open communication within the team.
  • Self motivated.
  • Ability to multitask (organizes and prioritizes work loads).
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.

Experience and Education

  • Minimum 5 years commercial insurance experience, Agency preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years external business-to-business sales experience, insurance industry preferred
  • Applicable state's Agents License.
  • Industry related certifications preferred.
  • 2 + years working in a similar capacity preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Worked in a similar capacity interfacing with customers directly in person and over the phone.

Other Requirements:

  • Frequent travel to client sites. Occasional travel to remote office locations, seminars, training, and conferences.
  • Availability during non-core business hours.
