Responsibilities and Duties

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

Below is a brief outline of the main responsibilities of this position:

  • Successfully handle any complex coverage or liability claims investigation.
  • Conduct field based investigations to investigate property damage.
  • Use claims handling software and other devices to determine claims related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment.
  • Use strong customer service skills to negotiate and settle claims.
  • Within authority, investigates cause and origin of claims by contacting the appropriate parties including insured, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, other adjusters, public personnel, etc.
  • Inspects damaged property and determines claims related damage.
  • Estimates the cost of repair or replacement of damaged property.
  • Determines and reports on subrogation potential.
  • Recognizes, controls and resolves disputes with tact and diplomacy.
  • Notifies or directly involves the agent in the dispute resolution.
  • Utilizes arbitration, appraisal and alternate dispute resolution as needed.
  • Actively manages individual claim inventory and meets cycle-time goals for closing files.
  • Maintains a global view of the liability and property claims workflow in order to provide customers with appropriate, accurate and timely information throughout the life cycle of their claim.
  • Facilitates communication between customers, agents, vendors, third party administrators and other staff.

Candidates must be willing and able to:
 

  • Inspect roofs and small, confined spaces that have been damaged.
  • Travel to other geographic regions to offer claims support in the event of a catastrophe. Contractors assigned to the Catastrophe team will be required to travel away from their residence for an unspecified period of time.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the contractor will split his or her time between travelling to and from inspections and completing reports in an office setting. This position is fully remote.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a contractor to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the contractor is regularly required to drive, type, file and lift various items which may exceed 50 pounds. The contractor is frequently required to stand, bend, climb, crawl, speak, and hear.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years adjusting experience in handling both residential and commercial losses is required. 
  • Must be proficient with Xactimate and Xactanalysis. 
  • Must possess excellent computer skills with the ability to submit reports timely and electronically in one PDF file.  
  • Must possess the necessary tools (e.g. ladder, laptop, cell phone, etc.) required for the assignment. 
  • Must have the ability to climb roofs and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, organizational ability, technical knowledge, and basic computer skills. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a dependable vehicle and good driving record. 
  • Must possess Adjuster licenses as required by state.      
  • Hagg Certification is a plus. 
  • A background in the construction industry is a plus.
