Job Details

The Underwriting Assistant provides assistance to our Casualty Underwriters utilizing RSUI systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Pre-screening / Pre-qualifying submissions with little guidance
  • Request necessary information for underwriter review
  • Review Loss Information
  • Rating using rating system (read apps and classify)
  • Request rating information
  • Put together quotes for underwriters to review
  • Review and quote renewals with little direction
  • Follow up on outstanding quotes
  • Policy file organization and maintenance
  • Complete rating worksheets
  • Complete underwriter summary
  • Suspense and follow up on all requests: Information Needed for policy issuance, Loss Information
  • Process monied and non-monied endorsements and assist with wording and preparation of endorsements as needed
  • Preparation of documentation for general information, reinsurance and policy issuance
  • Maintain renewal listing and follow up with producers
  • Communicate and provide information to brokers and reinsurers
  • Work with underwriter to effectively manage workload and establish priorities
  • Various other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; some college preferred - or equivalent business experience
  • 2-5 years Casualty underwriting support experience required
  • Good knowledge of casualty forms/endorsements
  • Superior customer service orientation and dedicated work ethic
  • Entrepreneurial, “no task is too small” approach
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong team player; energetic personality
  • Good communication skills – phone, e-mail, interpersonal
  • Excellent typing/keyboarding skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel & Word)
  • Math aptitude
