Summary/Objective
The Commercial Claims Adjuster will:
1) Investigate and evaluate coverage, liability, and damages on assigned claims, determine appropriate reserves and settlement values, and resolve claims on merits. Claims inventory complexity will range from basic claims to complex and high exposure claims, depending on experience level and proven abilities.
2) Direct defense counsel on litigate files, as well as attend mediations and trials, as necessary.
3) Resolve claims within designated monetary authority.
4) Document and report on claims activities as required. The Claim Adjuster will demonstrate both commercial and personal lines expertise.
Essential Functions
· Verify, investigate and evaluate coverage, liability, and damages on assigned claims and determine appropriate reserves and settlement values in accordance with standard practice guidelines including quality, cycle time and insurance contact. Negotiate claims to settlement within authority after determining potential for SIU and subrogation recoveries.
· Deliver exceptional customer service through professional and timely communication including telephone, email and written correspondence.
· Maintain and improve technical expertise in the areas handled.
· Direct defense counsel on files and manages expenses.
· Physical attendance at worksite is required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and hours can increase during times of increased volume and catastrophes. Flexible work schedule within hours of operation to service our customers.
Required Education and Experience
620 License
Preferred Education and Experience
· Homeowners and commercial claim handling experience desired.
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
· 1-2 years of experience as a Claims Representative.
· Other industry designations, AIC, CPCU, Claims Law, etc.
