Director Professional Lines Claims

Ullico Inc. is actively recruiting a Director of Professional Lines Claims for our Professional Lines Claims Department of Ullico Casualty Group, LLC.  This position is located in our Silver Spring, MD office. This person will manage and administer the activities of assigned professional liability claims to include the receipt, review, investigation, analysis, assignment and evaluation of claims filed against our insureds.  May participate in the development of policies and procedures that comply with statuatory and organizational guidelines for Senior Management review and approval.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Incumbent may perform any or all of the following:

• Analyzes, evaluates and determines exposure and claims values.
• Maintains and monitors appropriate reserve establishment and development by both inside staff and outside counsel.
• Maintains proper level of customer service and responsiveness pursuant to in-house and statuatory guidelines.
• Develops, administers and manages direct reports as well as claim procedures.
• Coordinates management and reporting procedures and guidelines with inside staff and outside counsel for Senior Management review and approval.
• Performs other similar and related duties as required.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least seven years of Claims experience required.  An MBA or JD is preferred but not required.  Must have supervisory experience and be able to deal with all levels of internal associates and outside agencies.  Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail are critical for this role.  Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel is required.
