Job Summary

Position open to full time Home Based Worker. 

The Architect- Expert serves as the expert in IT systems architecture, undertaking complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge. The Architect-Expert  makes decisions on complex or ambiguous IT architecture issues, coordinating with users to determine requirements, and ensuring system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored, finding ways to increase efficiency

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply reference architectures and positions toward the design, deployment and support of highly complex systems that deliver business functionality.  
  • Involve Director and Associate Vice President level leadership from business and technology disciplines to present and deliver highly complex solutions as needed.  
  • Consult on the application of reference architecture, strategic direction of enterprise technology, and serve as subject matter expert with contextual knowledge of the business model.  
  • Utilize or develop reusable patterns, practices, and enterprise reference architectures that fit within the overall Allstate architectural blueprint.  
  • Drive requirements analysis activities and develop the design of highly complex architectural solutions involving multiple logical and/or physical dimensions.
  • Oversee the production and present documentation for these components.  
  • Maintain awareness of current complex architectures and business drivers and guide their application to initiatives as appropriate.  
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing architecture.
  • Assist with drafting the business case including identification of potential business/customer benefits.
  • Advocate effective architectural designs and optimize current architecture and processes.    
  • Influence clients and partners to prioritize for enterprise benefit and risk reduction and assist in driving the adoption of technology solutions that leverage existing patterns, practices and reference architectures.  
  • Recommend when tactical solutions should be replaced or incorporated into sunset and refresh strategies for assigned application(s), project(s) or discipline.

Job Qualifications

  • Over 7 years’ of direct experience in Information Security Technology across multiple disciplines and domains including but not limited to Security Architecture, Managing Cyber Risk and People Management
  • 5+ years of recent Enterprise Information Security Architecture and Cloud/Kubernetes experience
  • 5+ years of management experience; should include accountability for all aspects of leading an organization including people processes, client/partner relationships, work processes and delivery of work products.      
  • Serves as a security expert in application development, database design, network and/or platform (operating system) efforts, helping project teams comply with enterprise and IT security policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • In depth knowledge of cybersecurity defense-in-depth best practices including infrastructure architecture, engineering, operations, DevOps, cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, security, automation and orchestration.  
  • Experience with common application security architecture and vulnerabilities (e.g. OWASP Top 10), attack techniques and remediation tactics/strategies.  
  • Experience with common enterprise infrastructure (OS platforms, directory services, networking infrastructure, appliances, middleware, common security infrastructure) 
  • Executive communication skills, both written and verbal - Ability to tailor communication of complex and technical issues to cross functional audiences for executive decision making 
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, with a call-to-action focus  
  • Self-starter with an ability to work independently in a "semi-structured" environment 
  • Experience with enterprise level program/project management  

 

    Job Qualifications-Cont

    Preferred: 

    • Full stack security architecture or experience working as an enterprise level senior security consultant with large scale/complex environments 
    • Relevant post-secondary education and/or industry standard certifications (i.e. ISACA- CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT; ISC2- CCSP, CSSLP, CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP; SANS Institute/GIAC; AWS Certified Solutions Architect; PCI SSC ISA/QSA/PCIP; SABSA; EC-Council CNDA)
    • Proficiency with PCI DSS 3.2, HIPAA applicable security / privacy controls, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404, ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards, NIST 800-53, NIST cybersecurity framework, and COBIT 

    The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
