Help Desk Technician

 

GAINSCO Auto Insurance markets non-standard private passenger automobile products through retail agencies, in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Utah, Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. Job Purpose: Provide IT support to internal and external customers (agents) so that end users may complete business tasks.

Essential Job Results:

  • Facilitate effective computer usage by agents by responding to incoming calls and emails in a courteous, professional manner; requires incumbent to build rapport and seek problem details from users; record and track pertinent end user identification information, and steps taken to resolve issues.
  • Maintain internal user productivity by performing the duties listed above; Perform hands-on support at the desktop level which includes installing software, drivers, upgrades, system configuration and backups.
  • Contribute to IT process improvement initiatives by participating in IT projects as requested.
  • Ensure data security by performing backups and safeguarding data.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent; College degree in Computer Science preferred

Experience: 2-4 years prior experience in related position; prior auto insurance industry experience preferred

Skills and Abilities: Exceptional written and oral communication skills; exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport building, listening and questioning skills; strong documentation skills; ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues; ability to absorb and retain information; ability to present ideas in a user-friendly manner; highly self-motivated; keen attention to detail; exceptional troubleshooting skills, proven analytical and problem solving abilities; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment; exceptional customer service orientation; experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Other: Knowledge of computer hardware including setting up laptops and desktops, installing and configuring peripherals; experience with VoIP phone systems; installing and configuring local and network printers; experience with mobile devices and hotspots.

Office Equipment and Software: Experience with Microsoft Office including O365 and Exchange 2010; Strong knowledge and experience with Windows 7/10 Operating Systems; Knowledge of Helpdesk software including Zendesk; Extensive application support with VPN, Remote Desktop support and AS400 preferred; Knowledge and experience with Active Directory

Decision Making: Identifies, evaluates and prioritizes information and customer issues to ensure that all inquiries are resolved appropriately and in a timely manner.

Interpersonal Communication: Interacts with all levels of the organization, general public, agents
