Vice President, Actuarial Personal Lines Pricing
Lead staff in the production of actuarial analyses and statistical models to evaluate portfolio profitability and gain insights into loss experience, in support of our personal lines business strategy.
Participate in the development of the overall personal lines strategy. Build strong working relationships with Personal Lines management, working cohesively to profitability grow the portfolio. Help develop financial plan assumptions regarding premium growth and profitability, including future pricing objectives.
Develop semi-annual rate indications for evaluating profitability and possible rate actions. Jointly with Personal Lines management, develop base rate and rating plan recommendations considering expected profitability, market conditions, and other impacts. Oversee preparation of associated rate filings, including timely and effective responses to inquiries and objections. Foster productive relationships with state regulators through competence and responsiveness.
Assess personal lines pricing predictive models and vet output with Personal Lines management. Identify and propose new techniques and data sources to improve model fit and effectiveness.
Support product development activities by applying traditional and non-traditional analyses, where data may not exist or may not be sufficiently credible.
Foster an environment of continuous improvement, where diverse opinions and innovative ideas are encouraged.
Monitor developments in actuarial science and insurance operations to ensure actuarial and quantitative analysis methods are up-to-date, accurate, and producing valuable data with which to make sound business decisions.
Continue to develop and enhance the actuarial and business skill sets of the team through active performance assessment, constructive feedback and robust talent development plans. Support our actuarial students progress in the CAS examinations through planning, effective resource management, support and coaching.
As a member of the Actuarial Leadership Team, participate in talent assessment, cross-functional resource planning, actuarial rotation planning, and other talent development activities.
8+ years of Property/Casualty actuarial experience, with a minimum 3-5 in Personal Lines Pricing
Excellent leadership and talent development skills needed
FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society)
College degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Economics preferred.
