Manager, US Personal Lines Economics
The Manager of US PL Economics identifies issues and opportunities across all Personal Lines (PL) products at the national level. This includes setting the appropriate target combined ratio by line of business based on capital allocation, assessing projected book profitability at the country-wide level across all personal lines products, and setting an appropriate new business and renewal business national rate plan that supports long-term profitable growth across these lines.
Accountable for assessing and monitoring profitability and competitiveness of Personal/Business lines of business at a countrywide and state level.
Proactively generates insights into economic health of the business and effectively makes case for action.
Understand key developments in the industry and regulatory environment.
Effectively communicates findings and state of the lines to a broad array of audiences.
Partners closely with Finance, Actuarial, and US Region to understand and forecast key drivers of results.
Partners closely with US Region Product to drive sound state-level economic decisions.
Partners with other teams in Economics to share best practices, drive research into key areas, and solve business problems.
Manages efficient process for achieving DOI approval for rate need.
Hires, develops, and leads a high performing team and oversees the execution of all work.
Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelors degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field or a minimum 12 years of experience in jobs with progressive responsibility, preferably in insurance.
Advanced degree and/or ACAS/FCAS designation preferred.
Must have exceptional planning, organizational, analytical, and decision-making and communication skills.
Experience managing individuals or operations required.
Excellent analytic, quantitative and problem-solving skills proven ability to leverage skills and influence other leaders across the SBU.
Expert knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, underwriting rules, pricing plans and databases.
Expert knowledge/expertise of external competitor product offerings, pricing plans. Expert understanding of insurance concepts and financial metrics.
