The Business Unit Project Manager manages the key aspects of project planning, implementation, and execution for the Operational Client Services departmental projects and key initiatives. Projects may vary as small/medium projects with moderate risk and complexity as well as portions of high-risk, larger projects. The Business Unit Project Manager will also work with various team members and internal customers by coordinating and carrying out the project/implementation plan and delivering the expected objectives in a timely manner, producing the expected outcome with high-quality results.

The Details:

  • Works semi-independently under guidance of more senior staff/mgmt. to plan and organize project strategy

  • May schedule or lead calls regarding activity

  • Documents business requirements as identified by Stakeholders

  • Maintain or provide updates to task plans

  • Coordinate activities with Operations to ensure project remains on schedule and in accordance with project plan

  • Represent Assurant when needed during project meetings

  • Monitors progress through review of implementation schedules. Escalates when initiative goals are not being met

  • Provide administrative support as needed for the Staff and Senior PM (assist with facilitation of meetings, updates to project plans, project initiation documents, etc.)

  • Work with project teams and business partners to ensure that risks are identified, and appropriate risk management techniques are followed through the project life cycle

  • Identify, help resolve, and report relevant issues and delays to management and project stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field

  • 3 + years Project Management business experience preferably in a financial services/ insurance environment

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodologies - required | Green Belt certification (a plus)

  • Understanding of all stages of project life cycle

  • CAPM Certification (is a plus)

  • Superior problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to shift priorities and align activities to meet organizational goals

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently

  • Collaborate through cross-functional teams to deliver results

  • Able to work independently and be a critical thinker

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills | Effective presentations skills

  • Ability to follow up on requests continually and tactfully until successful conclusion of appointed task(s)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to travel 10% (Once travel restrictions are lifted)
